Smart:deess is a de-esser that employs a fully trained neural network to determine the precise start and end points of phonemes without imposing a threshold, making it more natural and balanced.

The plug-in examines the signal's actual content, balancing any sibilants and plosives present. Smart:deess also employs spectral processing to shape and refine harsh sounds on a deeper level.
